COTABATO, Philippines - Suspected kidnap gang freed Thursday morning their Filipino-Chinese trader captive in the southern Philippines after three-days in captivity, police and military officials said.
Chief Inspector Alexis Yap, regional police spokesman, said the victim was abandoned by his captors unharmed around 3:20 am local time somewhere in the town of Pigcawayan in North Cotabato province.
Yap said Tay was fetched by Parish Priest in nearby Midsayap town as requested by his family.
"He is now at the Bishop Palace in Cotabato City," Yap said.
Armed with rocket propelled grenades and automatic rifles, gunmen seized Tay at the gun point from his New Asian Marketing establishment along Don Rufino Alonzo Street in this southern Philippine city.
