Chinese defense minister meets ROK guests

BEIJING - Chinese Defense Minister Liang Guanglie met a delegation from the Retired Generals and Admirals Association of the Republic of Korea (ROK) in Beijing Wednesday.

Liang, a State Councilor, briefed the guests on relations between the two armed forces and countries, saying China was ready to work with the ROK to expand bilateral pragmatic exchanges and cooperation.

Since China and the ROK forged diplomatic ties 18 years ago, tangible achievements had been realized in the development of bilateral relations, Liang said.

Liang said China was willing to work with the ROK to contribute to regional peace and stability and realize common development.

Kim Chong Ho, president of the association and head of the delegation, said the ROK placed great importance on deepening bilateral relations, and the association was willing to try to advance military and state-to-state relations.

The delegation, at the invitation of the China International Institute for Strategic Society, arrived in China Monday.
