4 die in northwest China road accident

URUMQI - Four people drowned Friday night after a car plummeted off a bridge into a river in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, local authorities said Saturday.

The black Chevron sedan plunged into the river at around 7:30 pm in Xinhe County, Aksu Prefecture.

All the bodies and the vehicle were retrieved by 8:50 pm. The driver was a local villager. The passengers were yet to be identified, a prefecture official said.

The police were investigating the case, he added.
