Tibet always open to objective foreign reporters

BEIJING -- Tibet always welcomes foreign reporters, but they have to work "in a just and objective way," a top Tibet official said here Friday afternoon.

"Our door is always open as long as the reporters conduct their coverage in a just and objective way that is conducive to Tibet's social and economic development," Qiangba Puncog, chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region government, told reporters after a panel discussion of lawmakers from Tibet.

"I myself have received quite a number of foreign reporters last year," he said.

However, the region would still have some special regulations on tourists and media coverage, due to the limits of the region's climate the geographic conditions, he said.

An editorial of the People's Daily has called on China's top political advisory body to made due contributions to help the country weather through difficulties.
