The total number of flu cases on the Chinese mainland has reached 5,592 after 1,177 more patients were confirmed with A(H1N1) influenza as of Sept 7, the Ministry of Health said Monday. All 31 provinces, municipalities and regions have reported confirmed cases.

Among the new confirmed cases, 17 patients were infected from abroad and the rest became sick on the Chinese mainland. As of Sept 7, 3,852 patients have been cured with no reported deaths from the disease.

The ministry said the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, Ningxia Hui autonomous region and Qinghai province reported their first confirmed flu cases on Sept 5. The Tibet autonomous region submitted their first report the next day.
