Ellen DeGeneres, host of the popular daytime television talk show "The Ellen show" is receiving a humanitarian award.
Producers of the People's Choice Awards made the announcement Monday, saying that DeGeneres will be recognized as the Favorite Humanitarian at Wednesday's ceremony.
DeGeneres joked that the award "sums me up perfectly as I am both a human and an itarian."
She then thanked director Andrew Stanton for casting her in his movie "Finding Nemo", saying it gave her the chance to have a career again.
"So three years later, 'Finding Nemo' comes out, my talk show launches and then 13 years later starting my 13th season on my show and things couldn't be better for me. I am so grateful and this comes out. It's really amazing."
DeGeneres is also nominated for Favorite Talk Show Host at the fan-voted People's Choice Awards, which will be presented at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and broadcast on CBS.
