Awards honor culinary pros around China

The Hotelier Awards China, a ceremony that honors professionals of the hotel industry, held its second annual event on Dec 10 at Four Seasons Hotel, Beijing.

Taking home the Chef Hotelier of the Year award was Richard Ekkebus, director of culinary operations and food and beverage at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. Heiko Roeder, director of food and beverage at Four Seasons, Guangzhou, took the honor of Food & Beverage Hotelier of the Year.

There were 18 awards in total. Winners were chosen from about 300 candidates from more than 100 properties from 44 different brands. More than 300 industry professionals attended the awards dinner. In 2016, the Hotelier Awards will expand into the ASEAN region, covering Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries, and the awards dinner will take place in December in Macao.
