Beijing has released its clean air action plan for this year saying it will go all out to launch a differential parking fee by March. The government will also issue policies soon to reduce parking and toll fees for new energy cars.
The Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform and Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport will revise parking fees to differentiate between vehicles, increasing costs in a bid to cut the frequency of motor vehicle use.
In contrast, using a new energy car may enjoy more favorable policies. The commissions will promote plans including free parking and discounted toll fees.
The government said the congestion fee policy is under scrutiny with the total number of motor vehicles to be restricted to 5.75 million units this year.
