BEIJING -- China's industrial value added expanded 8.7 percent year on year in the first quarter, official figures showed on Wednesday.
On a month-to-month basis, industrial value added in March edged up by 0.81 percent from the previous month, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said.
China uses industrial value added to measure business activities of designated large enterprises each with an annual turnover of at least 20 million yuan ($3.26 million).
