Consumption has become the top engine of China's economic growth. China has been shifting to a consumption-driven economy as its export and investment-led engines of growth are unsustainable in the long term.
GDP totaled 74.41 trillion yuan ($10.83 trillion) in 2016, with the service sector accounting for 51.6 percent. Consumption contributed 64.6 percent to GDP growth last year.
