Zhu Xiaolin, 45 years old, is one such "spider man", and has been working in this line for ten years in Pingliang, a small city in Northwest China's Gansu province. Currently, he can earn between 6,000 to 14,000 ($2,260) yuan per month. In Pingliang, the average wage for migrant workers from rural areas with little education is only2,000 to 3,000 yuan.
Thus the work is lucrative, though it carries high risks.
"I cannot give up this job until my little son graduates from college", Zhu said.
