Dicos, a fast-food restaurant chain under the Ting Hsin International Group, is expected to expand its outlets to 25,000 by 2040.
The ambitious goal was announced after Dicos allowed its employees to own franchise operations.
Shao Xinmou, director of Dicos, said on May 13 that the restaurant chain saw its new outlets grow 40 percent in the first quarter and it plans to open more than 500 stores on the Chinese mainland.
Its first quarter revenue increased 25 percent year-on-year. Total Dicos chain stores numbered 2,000 last year, with about 90 percent of them franchised. It is the first time that Dicos has surpassed McDonald's as the second-largest Western fast-food chain, beaten only by Yum's KFC.
