Nations apply for right to organize trade fair

A number of countries and regions including Russia and Malaysia are applying for the "guest of honor" to jointly organize the annual China International Fair for Investment and Trade, the organizers said on Thursday.

Russia and Malaysia, which are involved in the ancient Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road, will hold big events to promote investment and trade during the fair, which will take place from Sept 9-11 in Xiamen, Fujian province.

The promotion events by Russia and Malaysia will help better push up the development of China's strategic plan to revitalize the Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road, the organizers said.

More than 60 countries and regions, with some 500 overseas government and business organizations, will participate in the fair.
