The China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) is gaining more international recognition following overseas promotions targeting foreign governments and businesses.
The fair, organized by the Ministry of Commerce, is held annually during September 8-11 in the coastal city of Xiamen, in East China's Fujian Province. This year's CIFIT will focus on international economic co-operation and global involvement.
The CIFIT's organizing committee officials said this year's CIFIT would also hold a series of activities based on the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-10), looking at multinational investment trends, hot issues concerning international investment, and major projects launched during the period.
Officials from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, and the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA), have all shown interest in taking part in the upcoming 10th CIFIT, said organizing committee officials.
In May, the CIFIT's organizing committee co-ordinated several promotional trips to see these groups.
WAIPA and the Ministry of Commerce in China will jointly sponsor a Roundtable Conference for International Investment Promotion Agencies during the upcoming fair, organizing committee sources said.
Meanwhile, an exhibition area especially for WAIPA members will be set up at the CIFIT exhibition hall.
