Mobile gaming to grow further in 2014

China's mobile gaming market will continue to grow in 2014, with the market value to top 19 billion yuan, according to iiMedia Research, a mobile Internet consulting firm.

iiMedia Research said in a report that the number of mobile game players will rise to 478 million in 2014, generating a market value of 19.27 billion yuan.

As many as 385 million Chinese regularly played mobile games in 2013, up 34.6 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, the market value of this sector surged 108.7 percent to 12.25 billion yuan that year, according to iiMedia Research.

The report said that puzzle games were the most popular among mobile game players, followed by racing and role playing games.

Players were most likely to play games before sleeping (24.1 percent), or when they felt bored (22.3 percent) or had a break (19.6 percent).

Most of the players spent 15-30 minutes on mobile games, accounting for 38.8 percent of the total. Notably, some 8.2 percent of them spared as long as 120 minutes on that, according to the report.
