Ford sold 63,350 cars in China in February, a 9 percent fall year-on-year. Yet its sales in the first two months totaled 194,182 units, an 18 percent rise from the same period last year.
The joint venture Changan Ford Automobile Co sold 160,119 locally-made cars in January and February, a 29 percent surge year-on-year. It said the performance is mainly thanks to the popularity of its family car Escort, with 13,173 units sold in February.
Jiangling Motors Corporation, a commercial vehicle maker in which Ford has shares, saw its sales in the two months stand at 31,309 units, a 13 percent fall year-on-year.
Ford did not release sales figures of its premium brand Lincoln.
