New X1 'has all the ingredients of a leading model'

By Li Fusheng (China Daily) Updated: 2014-11-03 13:48

BMW has sold more than 120,000 X1s in China since it introduced the model in the country in 2010.

The X1 was the only premium compact SUV on the market at the time of entry and has been leading the segment with huge success ever since in China.

The number of X1s on the roads is the best proof, in particular, it enjoys very high popularity in China, especially among young and trendy customers.

Statistics showed that more than 20,000 units were sold to Chinese customers in the first five months of this year. This represented a 41 percent increase from last year, which was far higher than the average growth in the segment.

To better cater to the demands of BMW fans, the new BMW X1 also offers innovative individualization possibilities in both the exterior and interior, according to the company.

Instead of choosing from set packages, customers can pick what they want piece by piece to create a truly personalized car, the company added.

New options include the steering wheel, which can be heated, a rear-view camera, aluminum alloy roof rack, cruise control system, BMW navigation system, Bluetooth and HiFi system.

The company said the move would offer customers more freedom, which is what BMW would like to give its fans and customers.

The X1 targets individuals, couples and families who want to explore their personal freedom in mobility day in and day out, during their business and leisure time.

The new X1 contains all the signature ingredients of a leading model in the premium compact SUV segment, market insiders say.
