New arrival: Imported Auti S6, S7 Sportback

Two high-performance Audi sports cars, the imported S6 and the S7 Sportback, went on sale on March 27 in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, as part of the brand's ongoing efforts to increase the range of sports cars it has on offer in China. Dominique Boesch, general manager of the Audi sales division at FAW Volkswagen, said Audi will introduce two high-performance sports cars to China each year from 2013 to 2015 according to its RS high-performance sports car strategy.

Last year, Audi's China sales jumped 30 percent to nearly 403,000 units, consolidating the company's position as the biggest premium car provider in the country. The figure makes China continue to be the brand's biggest single market in the world, accounting for 28 percent of its global sales.

Audi S6

Equipped with a 4.0L TFSI twin turbo-charged V8 engine, seven-speed S tronic transmission and Audi's iconic quattro all-wheel drive system, the model can generate peak power of 309 kW and top torque of 550 Nm. It can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. The model's wheelbase is 16 mm longer than the Audi A6 standard-wheelbase version. Its structure uses more lightweight aluminum materials than the A6 and offers eight body color variants. The interior of the S6 features sporty elements. Both the dark color and metal texture of the interior design gives a feeling of youth and dynamism. It is priced at a little more than 1 million yuan.

Audi S7 Sportback

This more elegant-looking model also carries a 4.0L TFSI twin turbocharged engine, seven-speed S tronic transmission, and the quattro all-wheel drive system. It can reach a peak power of 309 kW and top torque of 550 Nm. It takes 4.7 seconds - 0.1 seconds less than the S6 - to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h. The S7 discharges only 235 grams of carbon dioxide per km. It retails at 1.35 million yuan.
