China calls for early return of Iran nuke talks(Xinhua)
Updated: 2009-09-18 13:27 China on Thursday called for an early return of talks on Iran's nuclear program, amid the expectation for negotiations on Iran's latest package of proposals.
The talks between Iran and the six major powers, which are the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany, are expected be held on Oct 1 in Turkey, according to EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana. The six countries last week accepted an offer from Tehran to hold wide-ranging talks. Established in 1945 under the UN Charter, the General Assembly (GA) occupies a central position as the chief deliberative, policymaking and representative organ of the UN.
Global leaders at the upcoming summit of the Group of 20 (G20) major economies should urge the implementation of a new set of international financial rules, Italian officials and experts have said.
