Hurun Research released the Global Chinese Big Philanthropy Report 2016 on Wednesday, a benchmark ranking of individuals of Chinese origin who have donated 500 million yuan ($80 million) or more during their lifetime to charity.
Fifty-one individuals of Chinese origin are listed in the report, including 25 from the Chinese mainland, 12 from Hong Kong, four from Taiwan and five from the United States.
Four Chinese alive today have donated more 10 billion yuan ($1.5 billion). They are Li Ka-shing from Hong Kong, Jack Ma, Pony Ma from the Chinese mainland, and the wife of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Priscilla Chan from the US.
Among all the listed philanthropists, nearly 50 percent work in real estate.
