People everywhere want better living conditions. This holds true for China also.
Property owners at Sikong Community in Beijing's Tongzhou district, who will be resettled elsewhere as buildings in the community will be torn down, stood in a line for a whole week just to get a number, a preferential right to choose new apartments.
Total apartment area is about 70,000 square meters while resettlement apartments will have an area of 180,000 square meters, which means there are more than enough apartments for original property owners to choose from.
Despite this fact, people still felt so insecure that they stood in line from August 12 to August 18.
