Second, the city has developed a highly efficient processing and sales network for Dongguan-made products, helping make it a hotbed for foreign investment.

Dongguan has developed into one of the most important manufacturing bases of IT products, with more than 3,000 computer and information enterprises having been set up.

In 2005, Dongguan realized an export volume of about US$17.3 billion of computer and information products, of which 95 per cent were processed in the city.

The annual trade volume of Dongguan-based enterprises reaches more than US$20 billion, sources with the local government said.

In terms of sales network, foreign-funded enterprises in Dongguan can export their products to the international market and also the Chinese market, thanks to its geological advantage.

Third, Dongguan has developed a sound and healthy investment mode for foreign enterprises.

For instance, foreign investors can rent or buy factories in Dongguan for business expansion in the city.

Moreover, they can also choose sole or co-operative investment modes in Dongguan, which is an ideal city to expand business into the Chinese market.

Fourth, Dongguan has developed a good business and living environment for foreign investors.

The city has developed many luxury residential communities for foreigners.

In addition, Dongguan has many large shopping malls and streets, providing a comfortable living environment for foreigners in the city.

At present, the city has a total of 7 golf courses and 88 star-level hotels, of which 14 are five-star hotels.

As a result, many foreign-invested enterprises have come to the city for meetings and promotional activities.

Fifth, Dongguan has developed a strong talent pool and advanced technology for foreign-funded enterprises.

By the end of last year, the city had established two higher educational institutes and 23 vocational schools, of which nine are key State-level schools.

At present, more than 20,000 Dongguan-based enterprises have employed about 300,000 graduates from key local universities.
