Shaanxi Province will bring forward more famous brands in the sectors of aviation and space, equipment manufacturing, biological pharmacy, modern agriculture and service during the 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-10), according to the Western China Tour of Brand Promotion Office.
The province has set up its goal to foster more than 400 famous brands in the province and more than 30 national famous brands during the period compared with nine and 308 brands respectively by the end of 2005.
By creating famous brand, the province will also foster one manufacturer of famous brand product with a sales value of more than 10 billion yuan (US$1.25 billion).
To strongly support the implementation of the plan, the provincial government will pay special attention to the key sectors, high-tech sectors and modern agriculture among the advanced manufacturing industry to develop advantageous brands, according to the office.
While forging regional brands, service brands and agricultural product brands, on one hand, the province will enhance product quality and technological level of privately owned economy and small- and medium-sized enterprises.
On the other hand, the province will work out preferential policies to develop famous brand products. It will greatly support its development in the aspect of government procurement, key project tendering and bidding, financial credit and loans, technological innovation inputs and intellectual property right protection.
It will also encourage professionals to be more involved in famous brand product manufacturers and set up a famous brand encouragement foundation to increase capital input to ensure the sustainable development of the famous brand strategy.
In addition, it will promulgate local regulations on the management of famous brand products to provide legal protection for the fostering, recognition and protection of the famous brand products.
Last year, the sales income and tariffs from famous brands in Shaanxi accounted for 27.94 per cent and 31.29 per cent of the total from the scaled enterprises in the province.
The formation of the production chain of famous brands has driven up the upgrading of related appliance and raw material and helped the optimization of resources.
To help implement the famous brand strategy, the province has set up a promotional institution consisting of 25 departments and social communities.
