BEIJING -- Beijing launched an etiquette training program for 2,280 volunteers serving at the APEC Economic Leaders' Week scheduled for early November.
The volunteers will learn basic knowledge of APEC, service etiquette, English for international conferences, emergency management and Chinese culture during the eight-day training, according to the organizers.
They come from 23 universities and were selected from 8,300 candidates. More than one third of them have college English certificates. Some can speak such languages as Japanese, Russian, French, German and Spanish.
English communication abilities will be tested and be a major reference to allocate their posts.
The APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting will be held in Beijing from Nov 10 to 11. The APEC leaders' week also includes the final senior officials' meeting from Nov 5 to 6 and the 26th ministerial meeting from Nov 7 to 8.
