The renovation of Tianqiao along Beijing’s central axis was completed on Dec 8.
The central axis measures 7.8 kilometers and starts in the south of the city at Yongding Gate. It runs across Zhengyang Gate, Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, Jingshan Hill, and ends at the Drum Tower and Bell Tower in the north.
Some historic buildings along the axis were demolished in the past. The capital has been accelerating protection and renovation of other buildings along the axis.
