However, the interview was done by China News Service. Wang issued a correction on her micro blog later.

The Chinese pair of Wang and Yu Yang was one the four that the Badminton World Federation disqualified after the sport's governing body determined that the teams were deliberately trying to lose on July 31. The attempt to throw matches was an effort to get easier subsequent opponents in the round-robin competition.

After the ruling, some reporters approached Wang's grandmother and asked her how she felt about the player's loss and the punishment. Wang got angry after she saw the interview online, saying, "Is news reporting really more important than humannity?"
