BUENOS AIRES - The Argentinean men's basketball team's coach, Julio Lamas, announced the 12-player list Sunday that will take part in London 2012 Olympic Games, including eight medal winners, local media said.
Argentina's basketball team includes five players who won gold medal in Athens 2004, led by Ruben Magnano, currently coaching Brazil's national team. These players are Emanuel Ginobili, Luis Scola, Andres Nocioni, Carlos Delfino and Leonardo Gutierrez.
Coached by Sergio Hernandez, these five players also won bronze medal in Beijing 2008 together with Pablo Prigioni, Juan Gutierrez and Federico Kammerichs, who will also compete in London.
The Argentinean Basketball Confederation (CABB) said that Scola, who suffered a knee injury on Thursday in a friendly match with Brazil, "is recovering favorably from the injury."
"It's not a serious injury and he will be able to train today. If there aren't any problems, he won't undergo the magnetic resonance scheduled for tomorrow," said Diego Grippo, the team's doctor.
The 12 players who will be in London are as the following:
Point guards: Pablo Prigioni (New York Knicks, NBA, United States) and Facundo Campazzo (Penarol de Mar del Plata, Argentina).
Shooting guards: Emanuel Ginobili (San Antonio Spurs, NBA, United States) and Carlos Delfino (Milwaukee Bucks, NBA, United States).
Small forwards: Andres Nocioni (Saski Baskonia-Caja Laboral, Basque Country, Spain), Hernan Jasen (Cajasol, Sevilla, Spain) and Marcos Daniel Mata (Penarol de Mar del Plata, Argentina).
Power forwards: Luis Scola (Houston Rockets, NBA, United States) , Federico Kammerichs (Flamengo, Brasil) and Leonardo Gutierrez ( Penarol de Mar del Plata, Argentina).
Centers: Juan Gutierrez (Obras, Argentina) and Martin Leiva ( Penarol de Mar del Plata, Argentina).
