Sports: Football
Home to Championship football club Coventry City, this stadium is one of six venues across the country hosting the London 2012 Olympic Football tournament.
The venue is located within a multi-purpose complex that hosts a variety of entertainment, sports and business events.
The design and build
The stadium was built in 2005 and officially opened on 24 February 2007 by Dame Kelly Holmes and former sports minister Richard Caborn. By that point, it had already hosted one sell-out England v Germany under-21 match and an entire season of Coventry City games.
City of Coventry Stadium is one of the UK's top venues, winning a variety of awards for its design.
In 2009, it won the bid to be the only Midlands venue to host the London 2012 Olympic Football Tournament.
No construction is required at the stadium for London 2012.
After the Games
After the London 2012 Games, the stadium will continue to host Coventry City matches.
