Former King of Pop Michael Jackson has died of a heart attack. His death brings an end to a dazzling yet a bizarre life and career.

Michael Jackson, the child star and then King of Pop, used to set the world dancing.

The singer had been rehearsing for a series of 50 concerts in London, starting in July and running until March 2010. Tickets for all the London concerts sold out just minutes after they went on sale.

The L.A. coroner's office says Jackson was pronounced dead at about two pm local time on Thursday.

The 50-year-old singer was earlier rushed to UCLA Medical Center from his home after apparently suffering a cardiac arrest. Doctors say Jackson was not breathing when they arrived on the scene.

Jackson's legacy is about the controversy that shrouded his life. His childhood, his marriage, bizarre lifestyle and sex scandals have combined to make people look at him more as a freak show than a talented star.

His lifetime record sales tally is believed to be around 750 million. He received 13 Grammy Awards. All this made him one of the most successful entertainers of all time.
