As Internet-based technology moves more diversified information more rapidly across the world, people begin to spend more of their time in the intellectual world, said a Chinese entrepreneur at the Second World Internet Conference on Wednesday.

With the development of new technology, it now just takes a few days for a new cultural concept to be known across the globe, said Zhang Yiming, Founder & CEO of Toutiao, a popular news app based in China.

Internet also lowers the threshold of content creation, thus spawning more diversified content and enriching people's intellectual life even more, added Zhang.

Toutiao now boasts more than 350 million users and more than 35 million active users daily, and 75 percent of the content on Toutiao is created by itself.

The Second World Internet Conference, the most high-profile Internet-related event in China, is taking place in the picturesque water town of Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, Dec 16 to 18.

The conference, with a goal of "building a cyberspace community of shared destiny", has gathered together more than 2,000 participants, including state leaders, government officials, business leaders, Internet titans, and experts from more than 120 countries and regions.

The guests at 10 forums will exchange views on a wide range of topics such as Internet culture communication, Internet innovation and development, digital economic cooperation, cyber security, Internet plus, cyberspace governance and the digital Silk Road.
