7.3-magnitude quake hits northern Indonesia

HONG KONG - An earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale jolted 144 km North West of Kota Ternate in northern Indonesia at 10:31:43 am local time (023143 GMT) on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 1.9 degrees north latitude and 126.7 degrees east longitude.
