ANKARA - Three members of the outlawed Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) were killed in a clash between the Turkish security forces and the PKK in eastern Turkey late Sunday, private Dogan news agency reported Monday.

The security forces on duty found a group of PKK members who were planning to attack near Acemoglu Strait in Erzincan province, said the report.

The clash between the security forces and the PKK took place in the region, leaving the three PKK members dead, added the report.

The PKK, listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union, took up arms in 1984 in an attempt to create an ethnic homeland in southeastern Turkey.
