SEOUL - A court of the Republic of Korea (ROK)on Wednesday sentenced a US soldier to six years in prison for raping a ROK's teenager in October last year.

The Seoul Central District Court handed down a prison sentence of six years to Pvt Kevin Robison for raping the 17-year-old at her residence in Seoul.

The court also ordered the soldier's personal data be disclosed on a media network for 10 years in accordance with the laws relating to the protection of children and juveniles from sexual abuse.

It was one of two high-profile cases last year that provoked public fury over crimes committed by US soldiers in ROK. About 28,500 US soldiers are stationed in ROK as a deterrent against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

In the other case, a US soldier was sentenced to 10 years in prison for brutally raping another ROK's teenager in September last year.
