16 killed in two attacks in NW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - At least 16 people were killed and nine others injured in two separate attacks that occurred Sunday morning in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of Khyber Agency which borders Afghanistan, reported local media.

According to local state-owned television PTV, the first attack came at about 10:20 am local time in the Sipah area of Khyber Agency, in which a mortar shell was fired at a house, killing at least eight people including three children and injuring two others.

Shortly after this, another blast was reported at a market place in the Teerah Valley area of the same agency, which reportedly killed eight local militiamen who are fighting against militants in the area and injured seven other people.

No group has claimed the responsibility for the two attacks yet.
