Anupong was responding to a claim made by the anti-government group United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) protesters during a protest at Soi Dao Mountain in Chanthaburi province over the weekend, and widespread rumors of another military take over.

Ousted former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra also put stress on the rumors during his video link address to his UDD supporters at Soi Dao Mountain. Thaksin said that he would set up a government-in-exile if there was a coup.
