According to Su Van Minh, head of the agriculture department of the Tran Van Thoi district in Ca Mau, more than 460 unvaccinated ducks raised on a local farm died last week.

Test of the dead ducks have been found positive for the H5N1 virus, said Minh. The district reported bird flu case last September.

Minh said local veterinary authority has promptly disinfected the surrounding areas of the farm to keep the disease from spreading.

There has not been any human cases in the area so far, said Minh.
