The Sachsisches Blechblaser-quintett (Saxony Brass Player Quintet) was founded in 1993 and consists of solo brass players from the Rundfunk-Blasorchester Leipzig (nowadays Sachsische Blaser-philharmonie), and is one of the orchestra's most successful formations, thanks to its artistic quality and versatility. The ensemble, under the leadership of Sven Geipel, offers the entire musical range of a modern group of brass players in its concerts. In addition to the cultivation of traditional brass music (especially from the renaissance and baroque eras), the five musicians also perform modern compositions with typical virtuosity and tonal variety. The ensemble continues to enthrall its public with special, unusual and buoyant treatments of popular and classical music.
