In a related development, the Hainan airline has worked with Canada's major airline Westjet to send tourists to the four corners of the country. This makes it convenient for travelers to enjoy the Canadian Rockies in Alberta and to also explore further, such as Yellowknife, where polar lights are a treat.
Travel Alberta has also come up with itineraries for those who take the new flight. They include family travel, marathons, shopping, winter wonderlands, skiing, photography, recreational-vehicle camping, train travel and road trips.
In other good news for travelers, Alberta doesn't have a provincial sales tax, making it an affordable shopping destination.
And for adventure enthusiasts, ice fishing and polar light photography experiences have also been prepared for visitors.
The routes cover cities, national parks and other sites of interest across Calgary, Edmonton, the Canadian Rockies, the Canadian Badlands and southern Alberta.
The Canadian Tourism Authority hopes these winter experiences, along with the country's simple and convenient 10-year multi-entry visa and nonstop air access, can make Alberta a competitive choice for overseas travel by the Chinese.
