Chinese tipped to run the G20
Steve Howard, chairman of the Global Foundation, said it is crucial to make the G20 a permanent gathering which should be run in China, during an interview with China Daily at the 2009 Global Think Tank Summit.
"Globally, governments make decisions but they need to have the confidence of their citizens to make sure these decisions are implemented," Howard said, who delivered a speech to the summit.
He also said think tanks significantly impact on the policy making procedure and will be even more influential in the future.
"I think we have some work to do on the future of currencies, but I think there are some bigger questions before that," he said.
The Global Foundation was launched in 1998 as a citizen’s organization committed to enhancing Australia’s future in the global context.
Over a decade later, the Global Foundation – including 200 prominent Australian and global corporations, universities and citizens - has established itself as a respected, independent facilitator on issues facing Australia and the world.
