The first Global Think Tank Summit kicks off in Beijing on July 2. Close to 100 top-notch think tanks from home and abroad take part in the event.
The current global financial crisis tops the agenda. Themed "sharing mankind wisdom, seeking global development", the three-day summit comprises a major forum and five sub-forums, and will be held in both Chinese and English.

The major forum is about global financial and economic crisis and global economic outlook. The five sub-forums are about promoting trade liberalization and investment facilitation, sustainable development and macro-economic policies, cooperation and responsibilities of multinationals in the global financial and economic crisis, global consumption, savings and financial security, and idea exchange with global think tanks on key economic issues.
Hundreds of intellectuals, officials, scholars, and economists from all over the world will gather for the summit, as well as more than 200 representatives from domestic and overseas firms.
Those scheduled to attend include John L. Thornton, Chair of the Brookings Board of Trustees.
The summit is the first major event sponsored by the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE) since its establishment on March 20.
