Enchanting China: Masterpieces of Chinese Music showcased in Toronto

The China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra presented the Folk Music Gala "Enchanting China: Masterpieces of Chinese Music" on Dec 2-3 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts in Toronto. The enriching celebration - featuring more than more than 70 Chinese musicians, singers and dancers along with the Ottawa Bach Choir and Canadian guest singers - showcased an ebullient and diverse program of Peking Opera, classical hits, and traditional folk music on the authentic instruments of the traditional Chinese orchestra.
As world-class musicians perform, the glorious sounds were illuminated with dance performances and vocal solos from international and local guest artists. Among them, Chinese Huqin artist Jiang Kemei and Canadian Cello artist Vincent Belanger accompanied by the Orchestra performed the Flowers Thoughts, Chinese tenor Xue Haoyin and Canadian soprano Robin Eder-Warren sang the theme song of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games You and Me, which showcased the diverse culture and arts of China and cultural fusion between West and East. "It was fabulous and dynamic! The music, dynamism and performs, it's really compiling to watch! And the visuals behind the symphony, it's really cool to anybody!" Catherine Kustanczy, a freelance arts reviewer told China Daily on the site.
