The 8th China-US Consultation on Strategic Security and Multilateral Arms Control, co-chaired by the two, discussed the situation of current global security, global nuclear governance, outer space safety, missile defense, non-proliferation and other regional and global issues of common concerns.
The meeting was attended by representatives from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of National Defense, State Administration for Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the US Department of State, White House National Security Council and Department of Defense.
"In the tough and complicated global security environment, strengthening strategic security and multilateral arms control cooperation between China and the United States serves to expand the common interests of both sides, it also helps ensure the global and regional peace and stability," Li said. He expressed China's stance of opposing the deployment of THAAAD missile defense system in South Korea.
