"With 44 percent of Canadian smartphones running Google's Android platform, the Canadian market is an increasingly important one for ZTE's global success," said Cheng Lixin, chairman and CEO of ZTE North America. "Celebrating 10 years in Canada, ZTE is excited to continue to offer Canadians choices when looking for a premium device at an affordable price."
"Axon is not only their flagship series; it is a revolution for all smartphone consumers," said Jeff Yee, vice-president of technology planning and partnerships at ZTE USA. "We put consumers at the heart of everything we design, build and deliver so we listened when consumers told us that they wanted a better sound experience, bringing the first smartphone with Hi-Fi audio to North America."
According to Yee, much like the axon nerves that help keep the mind and body connected, the ZTE Axon is the nerve center of everything you do. Available at Fido for $0 on a two-year premium plan term, $100 on a two-year standard plan term or $400 without a contract, ZTE Axon is available in Canada as of now.
"The Smartphone Axon is really an exciting device with successful features," said Raj Doshi, executive vice-president of wireless consumer services at Rogers Communications. "We see it as our curious device for our customers."
"We have achieved successful growth in Canada based on continued communication and understanding of the local market over the past 10 years," said Denson Xu, president and CEO of ZTE Canada. "We will continue to work with the carriers to meet customers' needs."
Founded in 1985, ZTE Corporation is listed on the Hong Kong and Shenzhen Stock Exchanges and is China's largest listed telecom equipment company. A global provider of mobile devices, telecommunication systems and enterprise solutions, ZTE Canada Inc is a subsidiary of the ZTE Corporation that has been operating since March 2005.
"We work with different partners in the North America. As part of the local eco-system, we plug into the local communities and accept social responsibilities in North America," Cheng added.
