Vivienne Poy (left), the former Canadian senator, presents the Chinese Canadian Legend Award to the son of Dr David Chuenyan Lai, a well-known Chinese-Canadian scholar who is called the “Father of Chinatown”, at the 2014 Chinese Canadian Legend Gala held in Richmond Hill on Nov 8. This award honors Chinese Canadians who have made significant contributions to the community and Canada through outstanding achievements in their field.
