Francois Hollande was elected French president on May 6, 2012. He lived with his then girlfriend Segolene Royal, a politician, for 30 years from 1978 to 2007. They have four children and split up after the presidential election of 2007. He later became involved with French journalist Valerie Trierweiler but the pair ended their seven-year relationship in January 2014.
