MOSCOW - Russia on Thursday delivered a consignment of humanitarian aid to Palestinian refugees in Syria, said the Emergency Situations Ministry.
A total of 70 tonnes of supplies were ferried by two Il-76 planes to the Syrian port city of Latakia, ministry spokesman Oleg Voronov told reporters.
There are about 400,000 Palestinian refugees in Syria, according to UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees data, representing 3 percent of Syria's population.
Russia regularly sends humanitarian aid to Syria and for refugees in the region.
On May 29, two planes delivered 22 tonnes of cargo to Latakia and evacuated 128 nationals of Russia and other Commonwealth of Independence States countries.
In April, Russia delivered three batches of humanitarian aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan.
