HOUSTON - Local police in Houston, a city in the US state of Texas, confirmed an armed man shot and killed himself at the city's Bush Intercontinental Airport Thursday afternoon.
The police said that at around 1:35 pm local time, Thursday, they were informed of a "discharge of firearm" at Terminal B at the airport. And the shooting took place at the ticketing area of the airport when one armed man pulled out a gun and committed suicide, according to a report aired by the local TV channel abc13.
CNN also reported that the man walked into the terminal with a military-style semi-automatic rifle and fired two shots into the ceiling. When he was confronted by an air marshal, the man pulled out another gun and shot himself, the report said.
Eyewitnesses said they heard a couple of gunshots.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a ground stop for all flights at the airport, according to reports.
United Airlines unveiled the newly renovated Terminal B at the airport last month.
