LOS ANGELES - A man was killed and four others injured in a deadly shooting in Fresno in central California, local media reported Tuesday.
The gunman was identified as 42-year-old Lawrence Jones, who shot four fellow workers at Valley Protein, a plant located in an industrial area in central Fresno about 200 miles (320 km) north of Los Angeles, at around 8 am local time, according to a report filed by KFSN-TV.
The man, a parolee who had a criminal history, then went outside and shot himself, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer was quoted as saying.
Jones suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He and two male victims are listed as in critical condition.
A 32-year-old man is dead and another female of the same age remained in serious condition, Dyer said.
The authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident and will release more information later on Tuesday.
