CAIRO - Egypt's Prosecutor General Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud on Wednesday ordered a 15-day detention for former president Hosni Mubarak under an investigation into corruption and abuse of power accusations.

The prosecutor general has placed Mubarak's sons, Alaa and Gamal, in detention for 15 days over an inquiry into the use of force against protestors during the anti-government demonstration in January.

Mubarak, 82, was hospitalized on Tuesday in Sharm el-Sheikh after he suffered a heart attack during questioning by prosecutors.

He was forced to end his 30-year rule after the 18-day nationwide demonstration and handed over the power to the military on February 11.

Mubarak has denied all the accusations against him and his family.
