The Year of the Snake has started with a bang in the Big Apple. A fireworks display drew thousands to a park in New York's Chinatown, to welcome the arrival of the Lunar New Year. Organizers say the spectacle was expected to attract more than 20,000 people. But many of those on hand for the spirited celebration at Sara D. Roosevelt Park were neither from New York nor Chinese - reflecting the growing international recognition of Chinese New Year.
